Fiona and Connor’s Wedding at Lochgreen
From the laughs at their engagement shoot to the wedding day itself, Fiona and Connor were an absolute joy to photograph. They celebrated at Lochgreen House Hotel in Troon on 12 September 2025, and it was a pleasure to be part of all the fun, love and madness.
Fiona had a particularly memorable approach to the Scottish weather: she bought a weather spell from a witch on Etsy! The sunshine duly arrived, giving us all a brilliant story to laugh about. A first for me, and a detail I won’t forget.
Music and entertainment were a big part of their celebrations, with piper Robin Turnbull, pianist John Rankin, magician Billy Reid and Little Red Wedding Band among the team. Their first-dance choice was Joesef’s version of “Thinking of You” by Sister Sledge.
Fiona and Connor, thank you for the laughs and for letting me capture your day.

Why I Love Photographing Weddings at Lochgreen
I absolutely love shooting at Lochgreen. It’s a stunning place to get married, whatever the weather — and it’s hard to beat an Ayrshire sunset. Troon is beautiful, and when that evening light arrives, it makes for some of my favourite wedding photographs.
The ceremony room is gorgeous, with beautiful natural light, and the rooms are elegant and classy. There’s lovely outdoor space for everyone to enjoy, confetti to celebrate with, and I’ve photographed weddings here where outdoor games have kept the guests entertained too. The food is incredible, and with so many guests able to stay over, the celebrations can feel like a proper getaway.
You’re in a private part of the hotel, which gives the day that lovely feeling of having the place to yourselves. It’s the kind of venue that really wows your guests.
And then there’s the team. My couples always speak so highly of Alex, Kari, Melissa and everyone at Lochgreen. Whatever they’ve asked for, the feeling is always the same: nothing’s a problem. That care makes such a difference, and it’s one more reason I love being back here.
Planning Your Wedding Photos at Lochgreen
Where can we take our wedding portraits?
The lawns, the ivy-covered exterior and the hotel’s distinctive architecture give us plenty of variety without leaving Lochgreen. Indoors, the wooden staircase, chandeliers and window light offer a different feel. Fiona and Connor’s gallery shows how these settings work across a real wedding day.
What if it rains?
Lochgreen is beautiful in all weathers. The elegant interiors and natural light give us indoor options, so your photographs don’t depend on sunshine. We can work around the weather and make use of a dry spell if one arrives.
Can we get sunset photographs?
If the weather and the timing of your day line up, a few minutes outside in the evening light can be lovely. Sunset time changes throughout the year, so it’s worth talking through your ceremony and meal timings when we plan your photography. An Ayrshire sunset is a bonus rather than something we can promise.
Do we need to leave our guests for ages?
My approach is relaxed: I want you to enjoy your wedding as well as your photographs. We can talk through the portraits and family groups that matter to you beforehand, making room for those photographs alongside the candid moments with your guests.
