Trump Turnberry Wedding Photographer
Looking for a Trump Turnberry wedding photographer? I’m John Clark, and I photograph weddings here on the Ayrshire coast with a relaxed, documentary approach.
Ashleigh and Miguel found my work through photographs I’d made at Turnberry. Their day brought together an emotional ceremony, a four-legged ring bearer, lighthouse portraits and a brilliant party at sunset.

I absolutely love photographing weddings at Trump Turnberry. The white exterior, fountain and coastal setting give us so much variety before we even step inside. Then there are the chandeliers, window light and wood-panelled corridors: plenty of places for relaxed portraits whatever the weather.
The team make such a difference too. I loved how well Ashleigh, Miguel and their guests were looked after. They made a whole weekend of it, which gave the celebration that lovely feeling of everyone being away together.
A ceremony full of personal touches
Their handfasting was a lovely part of the ceremony, but their dog nearly stole the show as ring bearer. Having their dog there meant so much to Ashleigh and Miguel, and I couldn’t resist making time for a portrait of all three of them.
Wedding portraits at Turnberry Lighthouse
The fountain and hotel grounds are lovely for portraits close to your guests. The lighthouse is another favourite of mine. I usually allow around five to ten minutes for the drive each way, plus time for photographs, and we agree the timing with the venue. After dinner can work well in summer; later in the year, we may need to go earlier to catch the daylight.
The speeches: every reaction tells a story
The speeches are one of my favourite parts of a wedding to photograph. I’m watching the speaker, but also the glances and laughter around the tables. Those little reactions bring you straight back to how the day felt.
A party, a champagne spray and an Ayrshire sunset
These two knew how to celebrate. From the dance floor to a champagne spray outside, there was so much energy and laughter. We also slipped out for a few portraits as the sun went down over the Ayrshire coast. What a finish to a fantastic day.
“John thank you so so much. I don’t even have the words for how incredible these photos are. You are so talented, thank you for all of your hard work and for just being a joy all day.”A message shared after Ashleigh and Miguel’s wedding
Planning your Turnberry wedding photographs
What if it rains?
Turnberry has beautiful indoor spaces, from bright windows and chandeliers to wood-panelled corridors. We can work with those and make the most of any dry spells, so your photographs don’t depend on sunshine.
Can we have lighthouse and sunset portraits?
Yes, we can plan time for the lighthouse and keep an eye on the evening light. The best timing depends on your ceremony, meal and the time of year. Sunset is a lovely bonus when the weather plays along.
Can our dog be in the photographs?
Ashleigh and Miguel’s dog joined their day as ring bearer and appeared in their portraits too. If you’d like yours involved, agree the arrangements with the venue beforehand and have someone ready to look after them between photographs.
