Enterkine House Wedding Photographer

A relaxed Ayrshire wedding, from emotional reveals and aisle hugs to sunshine on the decking and a brilliant party.

Ciara and Jonathon’s wedding at Enterkine House was full of the moments I love to photograph: real laughter, close friendships and people having the best time together.

A relaxed wedding with familiar faces

Ciara and Jonathon were a local couple I already knew from photographing other weddings, so there were plenty of familiar faces waiting for me at Enterkine House. They wanted to enjoy themselves with their friends and family, and that easy-going feeling ran through the whole day.

It was one of those weddings with a bit of everything: happy tears before the ceremony, big laughs during it, Aperol spritz on the decking and a proper party at night. The sunshine was a bonus. The people made it.

Happy tears before the aisle

The dress reveal was a lovely start to the story. Ciara’s bridesmaids went from huge smiles to wiping their eyes, and her mum’s reaction was just as emotional. The hug that followed is one of my favourite photographs from the morning.

Ciara looked beautiful in her dress from Aimee Bridal Couture, with Rachael Hunter on make-up and The Ladies Lounge on hair. Her aunt made the flowers, giving those bright pink and soft blush bouquets a lovely personal connection.

Over with Jonathon and the boys, it was bow ties, sunglasses and plenty of laughs. Their suits were from Slaters, with Jonathon’s green velvet jacket looking especially good against the grounds.

Hugs, laughter and a ceremony full of feeling

One of the moments I loved most happened before the vows. As the bridesmaids reached the end of the aisle, they stopped to hug Jonathon. Such a simple thing, but it said so much about the friendships in the room. Then Ciara arrived with her mum, and there were a few more eyes to wipe.

Paul Browett, The Scottish Celebrant, was brilliant. He brought the laughs and gave the emotional moments space too. I’d happily recommend him to couples who want a ceremony that feels personal and relaxed.

The timber beams, high windows and hanging lights made a beautiful setting, but I kept watching the people: the two of them grinning at each other, a bridesmaid trying to hold it together and guests laughing from their seats. Those little reactions tell as much of the story as the rings and first kiss.

Aperol spritz and sunshine on the decking

After the ceremony, everyone spilled outside for drinks and hugs. The decking at Enterkine House really comes into its own on a day like this. Ciara had her Aperol spritz, the guests had space to catch up, and the Ayrshire countryside stretched out beyond them.

We made time for the family and wedding party photographs, then let everyone get back to the celebrations. There was no shortage of things to photograph between the groups: friends squeezed into chairs together, drinks in hand and plenty of laughter.

That balance is a big part of how I work. We can make some lovely photographs together without turning your drinks reception into a long photo session.

A lively entrance and speeches worth watching

The energy followed everyone into dinner. The entrances set the tone, and the speeches brought the room together again. There were big laughs at the top table, a few emotional faces and plenty happening away from whoever had the microphone.

I love keeping an eye on those reactions. A photograph of Ciara looking across at Jonathon or her mum taking in a speech can carry a whole memory. The black and white photographs from this part of the day let those expressions speak for themselves.

Countryside portraits and confetti after dinner

The grounds gave us space for a short wander together, with trees, open lawns and soft light to work with. Ciara and Jonathon were so comfortable with each other that a walk and a bit of conversation were all we needed to get started.

As the light became warmer, we made a few closer portraits and some wider photographs that showed the setting. I love the mix: the two of them laughing nose to nose, then walking hand in hand with the trees and sunshine around them.

The confetti happened after dinner, giving everyone another excuse to head outside and cheer them on. It was a brilliant burst of colour on the decking, with Ciara and Jonathon right in the middle of it.

A proper party to finish

By the evening, everyone was ready to go for it. From the first dance to guests throwing their hands in the air, there was plenty of energy on the dance floor. The sunglasses made another appearance too, this time for the two of them together.

It was lovely working alongside Emma from Unveiled Moments, capturing another side of the day. Ciara and Jonathon, thank you for making me feel so welcome. What a brilliant wedding to be part of.

Planning your wedding photographs at Enterkine House

Enterkine House, also known as Enterkine Country House Resort, is near Annbank in Ayrshire, a short drive from Ayr. The Oak & Glass Pavilion, terraces and surrounding grounds give you plenty of variety in one place. For Ciara and Jonathon, that meant a bright ceremony setting, a relaxed outdoor drinks reception and countryside portraits without a long trip away from their guests.

The staff were excellent at keeping the day moving while letting everyone enjoy it. Having accommodation on site is another useful part of the venue, especially when friends and family want to stay for the whole celebration.

Where can we take our couple photographs?

The decking is great for the atmosphere of the reception, while the lawns and tree-lined paths give us quieter space for portraits. I’ll choose the exact spots around the light and weather on your day. A short walk early on and another few minutes in softer evening light can give you a lovely mix.

What if it rains?

We can use the indoor spaces and window light, then take any dry spell as it comes. There’s no need to build your whole plan around a sunset. I’ll work with your venue team so photographs fit around the ceremony, meal and celebrations.

How do we keep the photographs relaxed?

A short list of the family groups that matter most helps us get those done smoothly. After that, I’ll give you enough guidance to feel comfortable and leave plenty of room for the real moments. If that sounds like your kind of wedding photography, tell me about your date and plans.
