Why I love photographing weddings at Cornhill Castle

Cornhill has beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces, which makes all the difference when the Scottish weather changes. We can enjoy the grounds when the weather allows, then find lovely light and character inside the castle.

The new pavilion and bandstand

The refurbished pavilion looks fabulous: drapery, chandeliers, greenery and a patterned aisle create a beautiful ceremony setting. A special mention to Jordana Events for their work on the design.

The new outdoor bandstand gave us another lovely spot for Emma and Frazer’s portraits and wedding-party celebrations.

The speeches: every reaction tells a story

I absolutely love photographing speeches. I’m watching the speaker, but also the couple catching each other’s eye and the guests losing it at a story. Those reactions tell you so much about how the day felt.

We finished the night with Emma and Frazer celebrating with a champagne spray. After the ceremony, the speeches and all that laughter, it was a brilliant way to round off their Cornhill Castle wedding.

What if it rains?

Cornhill has lovely indoor spaces as well as the grounds and bandstand. I work with the light and weather on the day, so we can keep things relaxed and make the most of both.

Where can we have our portraits?

The castle doorway, staircase, lawns and outdoor bandstand all feature in Emma and Frazer’s photographs. We’ll choose places that suit you and the conditions, with time to enjoy your guests too.

Do you photograph candid moments?

Absolutely. The little exchanges, big laughs and speech reactions are a huge part of my approach, alongside relaxed portraits of the two of you.
