A Rossie on the Earn weddingLilian & Luke
Happy tears, big laughs and a proper Scottish ceilidh

An absolute gem in Perthshire
Wow. Just wow. Rossie on the Earn is one of those places that makes you stop for a minute and take it all in. Tucked away in the Perthshire countryside, with beautiful grounds and that incredible byre, it was some setting for Lilian and Luke’s wedding.
From getting ready at the farmhouse to a ceremony full of happy tears, brilliant speeches and a proper ceilidh at night, this was an absolute joy to photograph.
They wanted to enjoy their day with their favourite people, and that’s what we captured. The laughs, the wee looks, the hugs and all the lovely unplanned moments in between.
The morning at Farmhall Farmhouse
Lilian stayed at Farmhall Farmhouse, right beside the venue, and got ready there with her parents and bridal party. A lovely way to start the day, with everybody together and no big journey to the ceremony.
There were drinks in the garden, plenty of laughs and a lovely moment with her dad when he saw her in her dress. Lilian looked incredible in Angharad Bridal, with make-up by Jennifer Ross and hair by Hair Trip Nicki and Ark Bridal. Luke and the boys were looking the part in Houston Kiltmakers.

Happy tears and plenty of laughs
David Smith, David the Humanist, is one of my favourite humanists to work with, and this ceremony was exactly why. Beautiful, personal, funny, and full of the sort of moments you can’t plan for.
Happy tears one minute, everybody laughing the next. You could see how much this meant to both families. The flowers by Wreath & Wild looked gorgeous against the brickwork and timber inside the byre.
It was lovely working alongside LPR Wedding Films to capture it all, from those wee reactions in the seats to Lilian and Luke coming back up the aisle with their arms in the air.

Good music, great food and their favourite people
After the confetti, it was straight into the drinks reception. Cammy Miller Music on the guitar was a brilliant touch, and everybody settled into enjoying themselves.
And the food! I don’t think I’ve seen a spread quite like it. A huge charcuterie-style feast, with everybody getting stuck in. It went down an absolute treat.
This is the bit of the day I love photographing: people catching up, big hugs and proper laughs. Both families were so lovely, and there was plenty happening wherever I looked.

A few photographs, then back to the celebrations
Lilian and Luke were clear that they didn’t want to spend ages away from their guests having photographs taken. Fair enough. It was their wedding, and that’s exactly how we approached it.
We grabbed a few pictures outside, made the most of the gardens and that lovely setting, then got them back in to enjoy themselves. No need to turn the day into one long photo shoot.
A wee wander, a few laughs and a veil with a mind of its own. Plenty for me to work with, and plenty of time left for them to spend with their people.

Some brilliant speeches
The speeches were fantastic. The brother’s speech brought out a few interesting stories, with plenty of laughs around the tables and a few more tears along the way.
What a lovely bunch, on both sides. I love watching the reactions as much as the person speaking, and this room gave me plenty of both. Later, it was time to cut the cake from Three Cupcakes Cakery.

Those Perthshire views
We also managed a few photographs later in the day, with the tree-lined lane and golden fields just outside. A quiet few minutes together before heading back to the party.
Rossie really is unbelievably picturesque. You don’t have to go far to find a beautiful backdrop, which suited these two perfectly.

You can’t beat a proper Scottish ceilidh
Then Grouse Ceilidh Band got everybody going. A proper Scottish ceilidh, with people right in amongst it, plenty of spinning and some brilliantly questionable dancing.
Exactly the sort of finish this day deserved. Big smiles, a packed dance floor and two families having an absolute ball. What a day, and what a pair.

“We’re in tears!!! John thank you so much. These pictures are incredible. We’re so lucky to have booked you”
