What a wedding. Caitlin and Craig brought the style, the emotion and an unbelievable party to The Engine Works in Glasgow. Craig looked the part in his tux, Caitlin was absolutely radiant, and their friends and family were up for every minute of it. What a team.

A morning full of energy

The girls were already bringing the energy when I arrived. There was plenty of laughter, a few happy tears and that brilliant reaction when everyone saw Caitlin in her dress. She looked stunning in her Eleganza Sposa gown, with a lace-edged veil and a beautiful bouquet from the team at JAM Events and MUD Urban Flowers.

The mix of black dresses, white flowers and all that lovely brickwork suited the day perfectly. We made time for a few portraits, but it was the laughs and little moments between everyone that made the morning.

The moments you feel

For all the party photographs from this wedding, the quiet moments mean just as much. The first look, a close hug, a tear wiped away before walking downstairs. These are the photographs that bring you straight back to how it felt.

A heartfelt ceremony at The Engine Works

Craig and the boys were looking sharp, but there was no hiding the emotion once the ceremony began. Clare Dougall from Fuze Ceremonies brought the warmth and humour, with plenty of laughter alongside the happy tears.

The exposed brick, timber beams, white flowers and strings of lights made such a lovely setting. I love being able to photograph the whole room and then get right back to the expressions: Caitlin looking at Craig, a guest laughing, the two of them taking it all in.

Hugs, cheers and the new Mr & Mrs

Once the ceremony was over, it was straight into the hugs and celebrations. This lot made the group photographs a laugh, and Craig dipping Caitlin for a kiss with everyone cheering around them says plenty about the mood of the day.

The courtyard gives you space for those big, lively photographs, with the character of the venue all around you. A few group shots, a few more hugs, and everyone could get back to enjoying themselves.

Portraits with that industrial Glasgow feel

The Engine Works is some venue for photographs. Inside, you have the tall windows, the staircase, the texture of the brick and pockets of beautiful light. Outside, the courtyard gives you a completely different sense of scale. There is so much to work with without taking you away from your guests for ages.

Caitlin and Craig were brilliant together. We kept the portraits relaxed, with a little time to wander, laugh and enjoy being newly married. A few photographs beneath the veil gave us something softer alongside the stronger lines of the building.

A room full of laughter

The speeches had everyone going. There is something brilliant about looking around a room and finding a different reaction at every table. The candlelight, white flowers and their neon sign made the room look fantastic, but the people were the best part.

Canal portraits and a little evening air

One of my favourite things about The Engine Works is having the canal path just up at the top. It gives us a chance to step away for a few minutes, stretch our legs and make a different set of portraits with greenery and Glasgow in the background.

It is a lovely option around sunset when the light works for us. With Caitlin and Craig, we mixed wider views with relaxed black and white portraits, then came back into the courtyard for a few more photographs among the old brick buildings.

From the meal to midnight: what a party

Tartan Entertainment and Euan Lawrence were unbelievable. The tunes, the timing, the way the energy kept building: from the meal through to midnight, Euan was an absolute legend. This was one of those weddings where everyone was ready to get involved.

There were singalongs, glow sticks, children on shoulders and Craig up above the crowd. Caitlin was right in the middle of it all. I love photographing a dance floor like this, getting close enough that you can feel the noise and the laughter in the pictures.

It was also brilliant working alongside Paper Rings Collective, capturing the day from their content creator’s perspective, and having John Johnston with me as second photographer. What a day to be part of.

One last moment together

A couple of final portraits beneath the Love Rocks sign, and that was Caitlin and Craig’s day. Stylish, emotional and completely full of life. You two, your families and your friends were an absolute joy. Thank you for having us.

The brickwork, tall windows, staircase and courtyard give us several different backdrops within a short distance. I would plan a small portrait break around the ceremony and meal, leaving most of the day free for time with your guests.

A walk towards the nearby canal can add a quieter moment if the weather and timetable allow. It is an optional extra rather than something to squeeze in at any cost; there is plenty to photograph inside when Glasgow has other ideas.
