Christie and Kai’s
Christmas Wedding
at Boclair House
Christie and Kai married at Boclair House on 18 December 2025, just a week before Christmas. Glowing Christmas trees, white flowers and the house’s red sandstone backdrop gave their celebrations a lovely winter atmosphere.
I photographed the quieter moments as well as the big ones Christie putting on her earring, the flower girls descending the staircase and a tearful smile during the ceremony. Outside, we made use of the front steps and bandstand for portraits before returning to hugs, laughter and guests waving their napkins in celebration.
After dark, sparklers and the lights of the house brought a different feel to the photographs. The black-and-white portrait surrounded by backlit droplets was a striking way to round off the story of their day.

Why I love photographing weddings at Boclair House
Boclair House specialises in weddings, and it shows. The team understands the timings and keeps everything running smoothly. Lynette and Nick are brilliant wedding co-ordinators, and in my experience the staff keep the day on time without making anyone feel rushed.
There’s plenty of choice for photographs whatever the weather brings: lovely indoor spaces, shelter beneath the arches and the grounds outside. The front staircase is a particular favourite of mine—it’s one of the few places where a big group photograph can look beautifully natural, with everyone together and the house behind them.
Exclusive use makes a real difference too. It’s just you and your guests, giving the whole celebration a personal feel. For the team, the organisation and the variety of photo locations, Boclair House is one of my favourite wedding venues in and around Glasgow.
Planning your wedding photographs at Boclair House
Getting the most from a winter wedding
If you’re getting married in winter, let’s talk through your ceremony time and the daylight before the day. That gives us a chance to fit in photographs outside while it’s still light, without rushing you away from everyone. Christie and Kai’s December wedding shows just how lovely Boclair can look at that time of year.
What if it rains?
We’ve got options. The arches offer shelter, and there are lovely spots inside for photographs too. I’ll keep an eye on the weather and the light, and we can nip outside if there’s a break. There’s no need to spend your wedding day worrying about the forecast.
Time for photographs and time with your guests
A few relaxed portraits on the front steps or around the grounds can fit around the celebrations. We’ll chat about the family photographs you’d like beforehand, then keep things moving on the day. I want you back enjoying your people — those hugs, laughs and little moments are a big part of the photographs too.
A few photographs after dark
I do love Boclair in the evening. The illuminated house and bandstand give us a completely different feel from the daytime photographs. If you fancy stepping out for a few minutes, we can make the most of that, then get you straight back to the party.
